Our Cellar

Some stories are meant to be told. Ours begins in the early 1800s when a Dutch teacher named Hermanus Pieters journeyed to the Overberg to educate the children of local farmers. Payment wasn’t always in coins—sometimes it came in the form of sheep. And so, with a growing flock, he wandered through the region in search of fresh water, eventually settling in a place that would later bear his name: Hermanuspietersfontein.

Time moved on, and the town’s name was shortened to Hermanus, but we hold on to that original identity—because history matters, and so does staying true to your roots.

Fast forward to 2005, when our winery was founded. Nestled in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, our tasting room and cellar are where the past meets the present, where tradition meets craftsmanship, and where good wine meets great company.

Our home is in Hermanus, but our vineyards stretch into Sondagskloof, a cool-climate region that gives our wines their distinct character—elegant, structured, and full of personality.

Every bottle we produce is a tribute to our heritage. Our labels don’t just look different—they carry the essence of the people, places, and moments that shaped us.

Wines for everyday enjoyment, crafted with balance and approachability:

• Bloos – A vibrant and refreshing rosé, full of bright character.
• Kaalvoet Meisie – A crisp, expressive Sauvignon Blanc with a free-spirited nature.
• Posmeester – A smooth, approachable Merlot that delivers with every sip.

The heart of HPF1855, these wines reflect our terroir and dedication to quality:

• Kat – A wooded Sauvignon Blanc, matured in oak to develop depth, texture, and complexity—elegant, layered.
• Kleinboet – A bold Bordeaux-style blend with depth and personality.
• Skoonma – A Rhône-style Shiraz, rich and full-bodied, with spice, depth, and a bold personality—just like its namesake

Our most distinguished wines, representing the pinnacle of our craftsmanship:

• Swartskaap – The rebel of the range. A powerful, structured Cabernet Franc.
• Arnoldus – A tribute to tradition and refinement, embodying the excellence of HPF1855.
