Arnoldus

Our iconic Bordeaux blend

Arnoldus is a modest man of gravitas and poise.

A man that knows exactly what he wants from life...
Secure in a life well lived, he enjoys a quiet, private life.
His silence speaks louder than words.

In 2006, we pioneered and registered the Sondagskloof Wine Ward. (Sondagskloof is located close to Cape Agulhas, the southern-most tip of Africa. The ward forms part of the Walker Bay appellation and the greater Cape South Coast region of South Africa.) Sondagskloof is cradled in one of South Africa's premium wine-producing areas where the cool climate growing conditions make for the perfect environment for crafting wines with personality. Arnoldus showcases the best of what Sondagskloof has to offer, reflected by its youthful appeal, elegance, density, and gravitas. This wine embodies diligence, patience, and craftsmanship. Our aim is to be meticulous in creating something that will not just please but hopefully shift boundaries.

A blend of Cabernet franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, this wine ages for 24-30 months in 100% new French oak barriques (225L barrels) sourced from two prestigious family-owned cooperages in Bordeaux. The wine ages as a blend in the barriques prior to bottling, whereafter we cellar the wine for a further 24 months before the wines are released into the market. On the palate, the attributes of our cool climate ward in Sondagskloof meet our winemaking philosophy of balance, elegance, freshness, drinkability, and longevity. This wine will age for 10 years and beyond, provided stored under optimum conditions.

Arnoldus has a garnet red colour with rich aromas of dark fruit (cassis and plums); savoury notes (pencil shavings); and dried herbal spice. On the palate it is a generously offering tannin density and fruit intensity; seamless and supple, yet full of persistence and length; sweet herbal spice (rosemary, thyme, mint) providing freshness on palate.
